Business Time

Flight of the Conchords put it so greatly when they said, "It's business, It's Business Time."

I have for a very long time had a dream of owning my own landscaping business.  It seems that that dream may be coming true.

Some YL kids were at our house about a month ago to earn some money for camp.  We had a little work that needed to be done in the front and backyards.  We had to pull weeds,  replant rocks (weird I know), lay down mulch, and plant some flowers.   I was put in charge since I know what I am doing outside.   I let Dave tell me how he wanted things and then I put them into action.  Right as we were finishing a man drove up who lives on our street and asked what company we were with.   Since we aren't with a company I told him that I was starting one.  Well he took my name and number and is going to call me to do his yard.

This past week I decided order business cards.  I named my company CW Landscaping.   My friend Darren saw this and now has decided to hire me to do his yard.  Also, another friend has asked her parents to let me do their yard.  It is amazing how things work out.  Amazing how I feel this is what God wants me to do for the rest of my life.

If you know anyone who needs work done in the landscaping department give them my name and number.  Thanks yall.  I will keep ya posted on how it works out.

Crush'tastic'

I got to admit I got this inspiration from another post I read.  I have a crush on a girl.  She will remain nameless so I can keep my sanity and so people who may know her wont run and tell her.  I always seem to get crushes and have them and have them and have them.  The problem is I get them and then never ever do anything about them or I find some stupid flaw in the girl to keep myself from doing something.  What is that?  I have no idea.  Most of you know me and my personality I think is outgoing and fun.  But when it comes to girls I am as shy as they come.  I hate rejection.  I always think of the consequences that may come about.  Will we still be friends?  I need to get past this but how the heck do I do it?  I mean I'm 28 I should be able to ask a girl out without fearing losing a friendship right.  Even if that friendship is really new.  Help me out.  What to do oh what to do?

Friends are Friends 4Ever

Thunder.  Lightning. 70 mph winds.  Blown over fence.

James a good friend.  Calls me at 11:00pm and my first thought was, "oh crap something bad has happened,"  because we never talk that late.   We are old men who go to bed early to get our rest. To my relief he just needed a little assistance with picking up his fence.  WHAT!!!

The storms knocked over a section of his fence.  When I think section of fence I think that he means one little 8ft section.  No.  He meant a 30ft section.  If you ever get this phone call be prepared.  Wood that has water soaked into it is really really heavy.  Thanks for the workout James.   It was fun.

Good thing James has home insurance to fix that if not I think I would be getting a phone call of "Hey Clark do you have a hammer?  Great bring it over we need to build something."   Which I would gladly do.

Front Row Joe

So last night Mike Mabie and I had the opportunity to see one of my most favorite bands of all time....Third Eye Blind.  Do you love them?  Because I love them.   The show was at Palladium Ballroom which for a person who has lived in Dallas my entire life I had never ever been there.  I have always been to shows at the now resting in peace Bronco Bowl,  Coca-Cola Starplex now known as Smirnoff.

The show was absolutely amazing.  AMAZING!!!  They played all of my favorite songs which for me is all of them.  The crowd was great.  Mike and I arrived there around 5 in the evening for the show which doors opened at 6:30.  Met some great dudes in the line and some ladies as well but you know how that goes with me.  Not very well.   We were 50th in line for 3EB.  Got in and were literally 8 feet from Mr. Stephan Jenkins.

If you have never ever seen these guys you are truly missing out.  This is one of the top 5 shows I have ever been to.  Phenomenal concert experience.  I will be there next year for sure because there new album comes out on August 18th.  This is going to be there 4th album and if the other 3 are any idea of how good it will be we are all in for a treat.

Check 'em out

TRIVIAL PURSUIT

I love Trivia.  It is so fun.  It is a major waste of time.  I challenge anyone to a game of Trivial Pursuit with me.  I love it.  Thanks to Chris who is the man.   I have been shown the greatness of Sporcle.  It is a website with nothing but trivia games on it.  Do you think you can name all of the 4 major sports teams in the U.S.  I though I could but then they included hockey in the 4 major sports.  I got 109 of the 122.  It is so fun.  There are movies, history, religion, music, geography, and entertainment quizzes.  Just try it out.  It is amazing.

The "WAVE"

Let me just start by saying this is not the normal wave you are used to seeing at a nice sandy beach.  No this is the wave of upmost disgust.

Thats right it is the infamous "WAVE".  The fan wave is a highly anticipated event at local sporting events for the mediocre fan.   The creation of the wave is a highly debated topic between the two so-called inventors of this activity.  Bill the Beerman and Krazy George have been arguing for years who is the true creator.  Bill being from Seattle and a beer salesman at the now resting in peace Kingdom and George, who I guess is crazy, a professional cheerleader in Oakland.

Let me first explain that I do not have a problem with the wave. I have a severe problem with the wave.  These two jokers who claim to have invented the wave should both be ashamed of themselves.  All they seem to have done is given a activity to fans to keep themselves busy while at a sporting event that they don't seem to care about.   Like I said my issue is not with the wave it is more of the timing of the wave.  I don't understand why people go to a game not to watch the game.

Your Texas Rangers are currently in first place and in one of the best runs in there short history.  During Sundays game the Rangers locked in 0-0 tie with the rival Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim the fans in the homerun porch started to do the wave.  I understand the wave during games where the outcome is never in doubt.  But here we are in a phenomenal game and some joker dad or youth group leader decides that the 8th inning is a great time to start the wave.  Come on teach your kids about baseball not how to ruin it.

I beg you. No.  Implore you.  Stop the wave.  Well at least stop the wave when the game is still in doubt.  The players don't like it.  The true fans don't like it.  I don't like it.  Let's go to The Ballpark and just cheer on our 1st place Texas Rangers without the wave.

End the Wave in '09.

Opinions Opinions Opinions

Today was a glorious day at The Cheesecake Factory.  Mark this down because you wont hear me say that to often.  It was glorious until one very untimely and incorrect comment.   I had just been given the news that one of my favorite bands was going to be playing town in the beginning of June.  I immediately started to jump for joy and sing.  This is where the comment came to pass.  The conversation went like this...

"Hey Matt,  did you hear the news.  Third Eye Blind is gonna be playing in June at Palladia.!"

"Oh yeah?  What is that song they sing?  You know where it goes 'Step back from that ledge'"

"Jumper"

"Yeah thats it.  I get them all confused because all there music sounds the same.  They aren't that good."

They aren't that good.  Can you believe he said that.  Needless to say the music this individual listens to is not really up my alley either.  His music is more of the type where you really cant understand the words that are being sung or should I say scream.

I write all this for us to listen and look at the greatness that is Third Eye Blind.  There are three phenomenal albums.  Beginning with the Self Title.  Then we have Blue.  And lastly we have Out of the Vein.  I challenge anyone to find a track on the first two albums that are bad.  From Jumper to Semi-Charmed Life to Wounded to Crystal Baller there isn't a bad song out there.  So let us all pray for my brother Matt to realize what 3EB brings to the table and let us all gather together in The Palladia Ballroom on June 8th to listen to them live.
